I would like to introduce myself. My name is Chasina Worman and I live and work in my hometown of Ketchikan, Alaska. My current position that I have been in for the past six years is Information Specialist in our local school district. I function at the Central Office and have a range of duties. My top priority is to manage our student information system, but I do everything from managing educational software, teacher training/support, website maintenance, public relations, state reporting, supporting our on-line learning program, supporting on-line testing and providing data. Before entering my current position, I taught at an elementary school and have a MAT in Elementary Education.
I love my home of Alaska. Where I live is a small island about an 1 1/2 flight from Seattle. You can not drive off of the island. Fishing and hunting are a way of life. I grew up commercial fishing, working on a seine boat. My favorite past time is cooking all the fantastic game and fish that my husband brings home.
I am currently pursuing the degree in M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction: Educational Technology Leadership. While I have a MAT in education, my prior degrees did not cover much in technology. Every day I am emersed in technology and what it can offer to our district. However, I feel that to grow, I need a better foundation. I am looking forward to learning.
Education is at a turning point. We now have more options than ever before, and technology changes how we can deliver education. I look forward to learning and discussing how as the educational system changes, which we are still making sound choices that are best for students.
